Katie Jerstad

Katie’s dedication to serving and protecting others arises from values instilled in childhood, when her family prioritized volunteer work, traveling to Ecuador and Brazil for public service projects. After completing her undergraduate degree in Political Science at Swarthmore College, she chose the University of Montana for law school, because she wanted to practice law in a place where she wanted to live.  She has been a public servant for over fifteen years in both civil and criminal courts in Montana, including work as an elder abuse and exploitation prosecutor.

A member of the Montana and Massachusetts bars, Katie joined the Drake Law Firm estate planning and probate team in 2025. Katie is able to clearly explain the law and apply it to each client’s individual estate planning needs. Her calming presence and high legal IQ provide clients with confidence when making difficult life planning decisions.

When she is not busy advocating for the people who need it most, you will find her on her cross-country skis, walking her dog, or surprising you with stories of her years playing rugby and traveling Europe singing in a choir.
